best books

The American Library Association's annual awards for books for children/young adults were announced yesterday. Here is the winner's list. While the Newbery and Caldecott medals are probably the best known, there are a total of 14 different awards listed, including one for best video.
John Newbery Medal for the most outstanding contribution to children's literature

“The Higher Power of Lucky,” written by Susan Patron, is the 2007 Newbery Medal winner. The book is illustrated by Matt Phelan and published by Simon & Schuster/Richard Jackson.

Randolph Caldecott Medal for the most distinguished American picture book for children

“Flotsam,” illustrated by David Wiesner, is the 2007 Caldecott Medal winner. The wordless book is published by Clarion.

And so the obvious question is, what about other media for children and young adults? What are the best games? The best websites? Best educational software?
